We started off day 2 walking back into the same room we spent most of our time in yesterday (room 120). Once settled down, we went through problems we encountered when we were doing our homework after school yesterday. As a class we helped those who were stuck and also got help from others if we were stuck. Personally, I got a little stuck when trying to finish my beer bottle, but I got help from classmates and we figured out a different solution to the problem. After doing that quickly, we moved to learning how the actual 3D printers worked and the different types of 3D printers. We had/used two 3D printers which were both "Selective Laser Sintering" printers. We also learned about a few different types such as "Stereolithography" printers and "Fused Deposition Modeling" printers.
After a small break, we came back to the classroom and began to actually take our models and 3D print them. I decided to take my 3D model of a Lego brick and print it, but first I decided to duplicate it three times so that when it was done I could try and put them together. Before I could print mine, one of my friends was printing their beer bottle but very scaled down and tiny. It finished pretty well and I began my Lego brick at the start of lunch time. After quite a bit of trial and error with the settings, I got it officially started around 3/4 of the way through lunch time. It had an estimated time of 43 minutes before it completed, so I finished my lunch and began to work on the next project when everyone got back.
When they got back, most of the class and I started to create a paper clip in the Fusion 360 software using a tutorial. I didn't have very many struggles with the paper clip but some of my classmates encountered a few. By the time I was almost done with my paper clip, the Lego Bricks were finished. For the moment of truth, I tried putting the pieces together and it worked! Well mostly.. Only a few places were able to connect with a few other places. But overall it was pretty good. I ended up finishing the day getting around halfway done with the whiskey bottle we are making and finishing this blog post.
