Day 2: Printing (Ben A.)

Printing

Today was the second day of our 3D Modeling and Printing M-Term. Today, Mr. Grisbee was not here, so we only had one teacher. We started off the morning by helping each other solve problems that they had run into while modeling the beer bottle. Once everyone had worked out the kinks in their models, we began learning about different types of 3D printing, and the various types of materials and methods that are used. This was really interesting for me, as I was not familiar with all of the various types of machines and methods that can be used to 3D print.

After we had learned about 3D printers, and different methods of printing, we began setting up our 3D printers, and started printing our designs! In the last hour of the morning, we were able to print a mini bottle, and a few lego bricks. After lunch, we printed a few more lego bricks, and then began modeling a paper clip. Once we finished with the model for the paper clip, we printed those out, and they actually work really well. The 3D printing aspect of this course is probably my favorite so far, so today was really fun and interesting.
