Day 6: The Beginning of the End (Everest)

It's the first day back, and we're all working on different things, but one thing is for sure, we're all more experienced, doing more involved and independent projects. I started the day by printing out the two rings I had modeled the Friday of the week before. While those were printing I was thinking about what I wanted to do for my individual project and I decided to try to model a 911 Turbo S. However, an hour into the project, with a lot of frustration, and a couple tutorials in I decided it was a project far above my skill set and time constraints. So, I took a little break and started cleaning up my rings. Once the excess plastic was off I grabbed some sandpaper from the Tinkeria and sanded the rough edges. Unfortunately, this made the edges that were sanded more of a light gray than black which kind of annoyed me because it looked way less refined, but I knew that I needed to start on my final project and didn't have too much time to make this project perfect. Either way, I was pretty happy with how the rings came out and how they fit.

(The picture doesn't show much detail, unfortunately)
The final project that I ended up choosing is the Porsche logo. I want to make a 3D model of it that I can put on my stuff or just on my desk because I really like their cars and I think the brand is good. The logo is a crest with a horse in the middle so while the shape of the object itself is not complex, the details have already given me a handful of struggles. This is the project that I want to make almost perfect so while I do think I will finish the design tomorrow or Wednesday, there will be a lot of cleanup and maybe some reprinting. I'm excited for the finished product though!
