Day 6 - The Magic Touch (Eli Cunningham)

On day 6 of the 3D modeling and printing M-Term (Monday) everyone came to school, back from their two day weekend. I got to class and sat down, then I took out my computer and plugged it in at 5% to the charger I forgot at school over the weekend. After talking a little bit I pulled up Fusion 360 and the Lego piece reference photo I was using for making a hinge sort of thing. This hinge sort of thing was going on the roof of my wallet to make sure none of the credit cards or money would fall out. Anyway, I got to work making another small overhang wall to the roof, this would make sure the credit card holders would not fall out. Once that part was good enough, I stared to use the fillet tool in Fusion 360 on many parts of the wallet that needed it. If you didn't know, the fillet tool makes straight, sharp edges or angles get rounded out and become not so sharp.

Reference Hinge Holder

Before lunch started I began working on the hinge mechanism that I needed the reference photo for. How it works is there is a holder sort of thing on the wallet which connects to a ball which is connected to the roof, when the roof moves the ball changes in one angle using the holder. I had quite a hard time visualizing this, making the dimensions and an even harder time making it, but at the end of the day it was pretty much finished. Hopefully I will be able to test print these pieces on day 7. Overall, even though some of the parts today were very frustrating, I was able to work through them with the help of my friends and the teacher. Speaking of the teacher, more than four times I had a problem where something was invisible or I wasn't able to click on something, but he was able to fix it in one click using what seemed like a magic touch.
