Day 7: It Can't Get Worse From Here... Right? (Eli Cunningham)

CAUTION: This may just be a very long rant to explain how annoying today was. On the start of day 7 I got to school around 8:10 and relaxed around until 8:30. When the clock struck around 8:32 I opened up Fusion 360 and pulled up what I left off on for the wallet I was making. I left off having finished the ball connector mechanism, so for a little bit I made the actual ball connected to the roof which would then connect to the "ball connector mechanism". When I finished I decided to do a test print of those two pieces without the rest of the wallet to see if they would work. This took a little bit to get all the settings right because we were using the new material called "PLA" which is pretty much a slightly harder and less flimsy than rubber material. When I got the printing settings right I printed it, but when it finished it turned out to be too small. So then I printed it 400% bigger which was almost good but a little too big, so then I printed it at 200% which was the right size. Although, none of the prints had the mechanism for keeping the ball in the ball connector.

Having been working on this ball connector and ball-roof connector for almost three days now, I decided to scrap that idea and instead work on a kind of hinge for the roof. Also, in the process of doing that I decided to make the wallet instead into a bigger, stationary card holder. I made it into this card holder by having a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very (continued) long time making parts bigger and smaller, then each time I made a piece change size I had to split it again so I could edit it by itself.

At nearly the last hour of the day, I started with the door hinge by following a tutorial. This tutorial first made me download a reference and import it so it could help me make the hinge. When I finished the hinge, I was having troubles connecting it to the roof and wall of my card holder, so I asked the teacher. The teacher tried to help, but it was taking longer than expected so we agreed to pick it up on the next day. But before we closed and saved everything the teacher pointed out an error that was saying something like "This is not the newest version of your work, would you like to update to the newest version of your work?" So we decided to press yes, expecting it would just update some components to how they would be in the newer version (because I was following an older tutorial, but I still made it in the newer version so nothing would be wrong. But we decided to do it anyway because it might fix a problem we would experience later. When I pressed yes, Fusion 360 closed all the progress I had just made and reverted it back to the last save I had, essentially removing all the progress I had made. And if you are asking, yes, I tried literally everything to get it back and it didn't work.

P.S. There are no pictures because they would just be the same as yesterday and it is a very sad day.
